HOW TO FIX: 1603: Fatal Error during installation in Windows 10

You may get an error with code 1603 when you try to install something on your Windows 10. The error message is somewhat like “Error:. -1603 Fatal error during installation “This usually occurs when you use Windows package to install the program.

You can try the following methods that can help you correct the Error.

1) Change the installation location

You may encounter a 1603 error because the installation location you choose is not available for various reasons – such as encrypted. You can use another installation folder to install the program and check to make sure the Error is gone.

2) Completely uninstall the same program That you have installed

If you have previously installed the same program (or earlier versions), errors may occur when you try to install the application one more time. If you want to install the program, you are successful; you need to do a fresh uninstall of your computer’s one program. This means you have to delete all temporary files and preferences left in addition to the main program.

Sometimes you can lose the program’s desktop shortcut for several reasons, and therefore, you may forget that you have installed it. In this case, you can go to the Control Panel to check whether it is still in your computer:

  • Press Win + R and enter “control”;
  • Find and open the Programs and Features;
  • Then you can see whether the application is listed here. If yes, uninstall.
