Windows Resource could not start the repair service

SFC error is an essential tool for fixing the faulty registry and corrupted system files. However sometimes the SFC scan itself stops to respond and an error pops up on the screen saying: Windows resource protection SFC error, so in order to fix this issue follow the below-mentioned methods.

How can I fix the Windows Resource Repair error?

Start the Windows Module Installer Service:

  • Press Windows key + R key
  • Then type services.msc and click OK
  • Now the services window will appear
  • Next, locate and double click on Modules Installer Service
  • Then under the General Tab set the startup type to manual and click apply to save changes
  • Now close the Services window and open the command prompt
  • Run command prompt as admin
  • Then run the following command:

sc config trustedinstaller start=demand

net start trustedinstaller

  • Let the command run and then try to run sfc.exe again

Perform an SFC scan in the Safe Mode:

  • Press Windows key + R key
  • The RUN dialogue box will appear
  • Type msconfig and press OK
  • Then select the Safe Mode option and click OK
  • Now click on Restart
  • You’ll boot in Safe Mode now
  • Try to run the sfc scan in the safe mode and see if it’s working
